Tom Peters’ SAP Questions

October 24th, 2007 by Bob

I don’t know if Tom Peters is serious with his question, “Should I buy SAP or invest in my team?“, but it seems like we could give him advice. After implementing 7 domestic sites and 7 international sites on SAP (and 5 more international site to go), you would think we would be experts at answering this one.  My gut says if you invest a lot in a team, you are just training another companies future employees or possibly creating future SAP Consultants.  I guess I would need to know what “invest” means.  In the end, I have to admit we have a GREAT team, that has been very successful.  What makes us great?  Looking at it closely, it seems that we as members of this SAP implementation team are more concerned about the success of our team than the success of the individuals in the team.  But that is a positive “Catch 22″ because success as a team has made us more successful as individuals.  I better stop now, I am talking myself in circles.  The bottom line:  Great Job Team!  Two more to go and we are done.  Let the record show the following successes (SAP Go-Lives):

USA
St. Paul, MN:  July 2003
Somerset, NJ:  October 2004
Tucson, AZ:  May 2005
Ft. Collins, CO:  October 2005
Plainview, NY:  January 2006
Santa Barbara, CA:  May 2006
Camarillo, CA:  May 2007

Europe
France:  June 2006
The Netherlands:  June 2006
Germany:  August 2006
England:  August 2006

APAC
Singapore:  October 2007
Taiwan: October 2007
China (Shanghai/Beijing): October 2007
South Korea:  November 2007
Malaysia:  scheduled for November 2007
Thailand:  scheduled for November 2007
Philippines:  scheduled for January 2008

Japan:  scheduled for March 2008

If this gets out, Tom is going to try to hire us to be his team!  So anyway, Tom’s post is interesting…take a look.
