“Imaging” your Web Address Icon

October 24th, 2007 by Bob

I wanted the web address icon to be an image that I selected instead of the standard IE “e” image.  Simple enough.  I search the web and found some posts that explained how to do it.  I tried and tried, with no success.  Eventually, I happened upon a nice little website in the UK that allows you to generate the icon in various sizes.  There are several out there, but this site was the easiest to use and IT WORKED!  The site is Free Favicon Generator.  I don’t know if you really need to do this, but I also added the following code right below the “<head> entry on the index.htm file:

<link rel=”shortcut icon” href=”favicon.ico” mce_href=”favicon.ico” >

I found this tip on some other website and now I can’t find it to link to it.  Hope this helps those that are searching.
