A little background: As a group, we had just started using Skype for the majority of our chat and calls. One of the fun things about Skype is that you can personalize it, including adding a picture that describes you a little better than the default Skype picture, which is:

This image appears in the contacts box of Skype and on your screen when you are talking or chatting with someone on line. Todd had scoured the Internet to find an image that he found more appealing and described him better. He settled on:

For those of us that know Todd, this was absolutely hilarious, and it described him perfectly. This sets the scene for the following conversation (paraphrased a bit) and a possible muteDonkey.com Hall of Fame nomination for what not to do with e-mail.

Bob to Mick: “Michael, you need a new Skype picture, the default just isn’t cutting it”
Mick to Bob and Todd: “Yea, I found one, I am sending it to you now”

A moment or two of silence, followed by Todd’s uncontrollable laughter.

Todd to Mick: “That’s a good one, what do you think, Bob?”
Bob to Mick and Todd: “I don’t know, I haven’t gotten it yet. Must be the spam filter or anti-virus slowing things down.”

Now more silence…still no e-mail from Mick. Lots of conversation back and forth as to why it did not show up yet.

Bob to Todd: “Todd, forward the e-mail to me, maybe within our system, it will be faster.”
Todd to Bob: “No problem. On it’s way.”
Bob to Todd and Mick: “Got it. Well, Mick, considering you just got back from your honeymoon, I guess that picture would be appropriate. I wonder why I didn’t get it via your e-mail?”

A few seconds of silence as we pondered the question…

Bob to Mick: “Oh, I see the problem. Who is Robert Wxxxxxx?”
Mick to Bob: “He is the land lord for the office complex we are located in. How did you hear about him?”
Bob to Mick: “It looks like he is the person you actually sent the e-mail to!!”

Todd and Bob: Laughing uncontrollably.
Mick: Dead silence.
